2025 London Book Fair Concludes with Around 30,000 Attendees and Growth in Rights Trading

London, March 13 — The 2025 London Book Fair has closed its three-day run today, attracting an estimated 30,000 visitors, in line with last year’s attendance. The International Rights Center reported a 10% increase in table sales, with a total of 550 tables sold, highlighting a strong demand for rights trading.

Despite hosting over 1,000 exhibitors, space limitations at Olympia London made the venue feel particularly crowded, especially on the first day, when some attendees left temporarily due to the dense foot traffic. With Olympia’s £1.3 billion redevelopment ongoing, organizers say additional space is unlikely before 2027.

This was the first edition of the fair under new director Adam Ridgway, who described the event as a success. “We’ve had great feedback from exhibitors and welcomed insightful speakers who explored international publishing and the next generation of readers,” Ridgway said.

However, the noticeably lighter attendance on Day Three once again sparked discussions about whether a two-day format might be more suitable. Despite worsening weather conditions, including hail and snowfall, visitors remained engaged. The Main Stage sustainability session, featuring IPA president Gvantsa Jobava and UN Publications chief Mary Glenn, drew a strong crowd, underscoring interest in the fair’s programming.

Industry observers view the 2025 fair as a solid start for Ridgway and his team, though expectations remain high for an expanded, modernized venue in the years ahead.
