Celebrating 75 years of bringing world cultures together this summer
To mark 75 years of the Edinburgh International Festival, we're taking a look back at highlights of our history, from our first ever community performances in the 1950s to landmark productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Orlando Furioso and Macbeth.
Founded in 1947 following the devastation of World War II, the Festival has always been a joyful celebration of audiences and artists coming together. We're counting down the days until we can reveal what we have lined up for both our 75th year and our first full Festival since 2019.
