Christopher Grotheer (GER) wins men's skeleton gold
Christopher Grotheer (L) and Axel Jungk (R) of Team Germany
The two-time world men's champion is now an Olympic gold medallist! Grotheer finishes his fourth and final run in 1:00.52, only the sixth-best time of the heat, but it was his work in the first three heats of the competition - setting the top time in all - that laid the foundations for his Olympic title, which he claims in a total time of 4:01.01. It's silver for Grotheer's compatriot Axel Jungk, and a remarkable bronze for Yan Wengang - the People's Republic of China's first ever sliding medal in Olympic history. 🥇Christopher Grotheer (GER): 4:01.01 🥈Axel Jungk (GER): 4:01.67 🥉Yan Wengang (CHN): 4:01.77
