A further four athletes have been added to the athletics squad for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games following the acceptance of World Athletics ranking invitations. They join the 72 athletes already selected for the athletics team, bringing the total number of athletes to 76. British Championships silver medallist David King joins Andrew Pozzi in the men’s 110m hurdles following the acceptance of his invite. Emily Borthwick has earned an invitation in the women’s high jump. Having revised her personal best to 1.93m earlier this season, she will join Morgan Lake in the event. British 1500m Champion Revee Walcott-Nolan has received her invite and will join Laura Muir and Katie Snowden in the event. Finally, 2017 relay world champion Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake will contest the 200m, adding to his 4x100m relay berth which was secured earlier in the week. His addition to the individual event means that Jona Efoloko is also selected to the men’s 4x100m relay squad. Team GB Chef de Mission for the Tokyo Olympic Games, Mark England, commented: “It is fantastic to be able to be able to welcome a further four athletes to an already-impressive Team GB athletics squad for Tokyo. We’d like to congratulate everyone on their deserved selection and look forward to seeing them take to the Olympic Stadium next month.” Additions to the athletics team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games: Women 1500m: Revee Walcott-Nolan (Dale King-Clutterbuck, Luton) High Jump Emily Borthwick (Fuzz Caan, Wigan and District) Men 200m Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (Lance Brauman, Newham and Essex Beagles)* 110m Hurdles David King (Tim O’Neil, City of Plymouth) 4 x 100m Relay Jona Efoloko (Clarence Callender, Sale Harriers) *previously announced as selected as part of the relay team
