LBF Highlights for the Final Day (Thursday 7th April)

Catalan poet and novelist Eva Baltasar is the author of critically acclaimed Permafrost, translated in 10 languages, which will be followed by Boulder this summer. Eva’s work is a breathtakingly forthright call for women’s freedom, and speaks boldly of the body, of sex, and on the self. She will be in conversation with Yara Rodrigues Fowler. They will discuss new rules for fiction writing, gender, identity, and success.

Khalid Al Budoor is considered one of the most important names in the modern poetry movement of the UAE. Al Budoor has been publishing poetry for more than 40 years and has been active in the writing community, helping to establish the Emirati Writers’ Union and participating in poetry festivals in the UAE and abroad.

· Sharjah Market Focus: Dubai Abulhoul in conversation

Dubai Abulhoul is the author of Galagolia, the first Emirati fantasy novel in English. Dubai has recently published a series of 5 children's books with Kalimat, which aim to introduce key figures of Emirati folklore to younger generations, and preserve Emirati folktales, which have been passed down verbally from one generation to another. She was named "Young Arab of the Year" in 2016 at the first Young Arab Awards for her work in youth advocacy, literature, and journalism.

This year’s Charles Clark Memorial Lecture will explore whether we are at the onset of a new era in regulating the online sector. We will discuss the recent regulatory approaches to online platforms from an EU perspective as well as the EU’s proposed Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act Regulations.
