New British No. 1 Norrie Wins Indian Wells

Cameron Norrie is an ATP Masters 1000 champion – and the new British No. 1 – after capping off the 2021 BNP Paribas Open with a comeback win over Georgia's Nikoloz Basilashvili.

With his triumph in Indian Wells, the 26-year-old Norrie surges to 10th in the FedEx ATP Race to Turin, just behind Hubert Hurkacz in the last qualifying spot for the 2021 Nitto ATP Finals.

"It would be nice to make it, but I'm going to keep going, keep taking care of what I can and handling what I can," says Norrie. "We'll see how it goes. I'm looking forward to the indoor season. I really like the courts. I've never really made a deep run in one of those tournaments, but I always play well. I always lose tight matches. Hopefully those can swing in my favour this year."

The Race to Turin continues this week at a pair of ATP 250 tournaments. Jannik Sinner leads the charge at the European Open in Antwerp, while Andrey Rublev returns to his hometown of Moscow as the defending champion and top seed at the VTB Kremlin Cup.
