ParalympicsGB has announced that Penny Briscoe CBE will once again serve as Chef de Mission for the British team at the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.

Under her leadership, ParalympicsGB delivered outstanding results at the Paris Games, finishing second on the medal table for a third consecutive Summer Paralympics and winning medals in 18 of the 19 sports they entered — a record achievement.

LA 2028 will mark Briscoe’s twelfth Paralympic Games and her sixth time in this leadership role. She joined ParalympicsGB in 2001 and first served as Chef de Mission at the Sochi 2014 Winter Games. A former canoe athlete and coach, she also competed at the Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

With 25 years of experience in Para sport, Briscoe is widely respected both in the UK and internationally. Last year, she was awarded a CBE in the King’s New Year Honours, and just last month, she received the Leadership Award from the International Paralympic Committee on International Women’s Day.

“I’m honoured to lead the team once again,” Briscoe said. “Over the next three years, I look forward to working closely with all the national governing bodies to ensure we’re fully prepared for LA 2028.”

ParalympicsGB CEO David Clarke OBE added: “Penny’s expertise and leadership are invaluable. I’m delighted she will continue in this role — she is a driving force within both ParalympicsGB and the wider Paralympic movement.”
