Comments from Team GB eventers Tom McEwen, Oliver Townend and Laura Collett following the end of the individual and team eventing at Equestrian Park. Team GB won their first team eventing title since 1972, with a score of 86.30, while McEwen added individual silver to the tally. All three were making their Olympic debuts. Tom McEwen Age: 30 Hometown: Gloucestershire: Minchinhampton Result: Team gold and individual silver with a score of 29.30 on Toledo de Kerser On winning two medals "It's not really hit me yet, it's been a super special experience. To get the gold with a record score has been phenomenal. "In the last few years I've messed up in many a place where I probably shouldn't have done but he's been a very special partner. "I loved the pressure this week, I've loved being in this team and we've had to perform. To get that team gold after 49 years is really special. "We are new to this experience, we've all just embraced the pressure and we've got three amazing horses. "They deal with a lot more pressure than I ever would, they keep calm and relaxed at all points, so I followed in their steps." Oliver Townend Age: 38 Hometown: West Yorkshire: Huddersfield Result: Team gold and individual fifth place with a score of 32.40 on Ballaghmor Class On winning team gold "It's unreal and it's not sunk in yet. We were three riders on exceptional horses, all three of us are on horses of a lifetime that have come together in an Olympic year. We knew we had a very good chance but we still had to it. "I'm relieved and very proud of the whole team, not just those here but those at home that get up at 5am every day to look after these horses, they are the ones that put in the hard graft." On the future "We've joked all week that it's only three years to Paris - it's more than possible we could all get to Paris again with these horses. "From a team point of view, I've never been as happy or as comfortable. We've got a rapport and chemistry as a team, it's really opened my eyes to what a team can achieve. "When you are surrounded by this sort of horsepower, it makes your job an awful lot easier. "We've never had a problem finding a celebration - it won't be with a cup of tea and biscuits. I know they'll be a bit of partying going on in Yorkshire and I can't wait to join them" Laura Collett Age: 31 Hometown: Gloucestershire: Salperton Result: Team gold and individual ninth with a score of 37.80 on London 52 On team gold "It was a completely surreal experience standing on that podium, I'm lost for words. "Just to be at an Olympics is a dream come true, let alone winning a gold medal. "It's been an unbelievable team experience, we knew we were sat on exceptional horses, we also knew there were some amazing horses left at home. "We had to prove a point that the selectors had made the right decision and thankfully we didn't let anyone down. "To be with two riders like these guys, they are so cool, calm and competitive and they made me up my game." On her accident in 2013 "Before having the accident I could have only dreamed of being here, let alone standing here with a gold medal around my neck. It's been a long road with a lot of ups and downs along the way. The moment like this, it makes every bad day worth it. "I feel like someone is going to wake me up and it's going to be one big dream. I've been dreaming about this moment but thought it would never come off. "I was lucky to survive my accident and now I'm lucky to win a gold medal, roll on the next rollercoaster in my life."
