Woodward: Pulling on that USA jersey is unbelievable
Two-time Team USA MVP Skyler Woodward says there aren't many feelings like representing his nation at the Mosconi Cup set to take place December 7-10, Alexandra Palace, London.
Woodward became the second automatic pick for the USA based on his Matchroom World Pool Ranking joining vice-captain Shane Van Boening on Jeremy Jones' side.
The Kentucky Kid will don the USA colours for a seventh consecutive year: "It feels great to represent my country and get to play on the biggest stage. I am excited to be back. It wasn't the same without the fans last year, I am very excited that the fans are back. It's the atmosphere. It's so much more alive when they are there. Alexandra Palace is always loud and noisy; we can thrive on that atmosphere and make the most of it."
On claiming another MVP title: "It would be great; I would know I've done everything I can to help the team. MVP is the last thing on my mind. If it happens it happens. Just winning the Mosconi Cup is enough for me."
"Pulling on the Team USA jersey is unbelievable. Just knowing you have the jersey on, it's amazing. Knowing you have the backing of a nation willing you on, nothing can really compare to that experience and what it means to fly the flag for your country."
